Dr. Matthew Mix, Vice President
"I am a trustee because I value BISD--the students, teachers, and administrators who are tasked with shaping our youth into productive citizens. Our future as a great community lies in the results we create within the minds and hearts of our children. I know the decisions we make today as a board provide that opportunity to create the leaders we look for in the future."
Dr. Matthew Mix attended the University of Southern Mississippi in 1995. In 2001, he earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic from the prestigious Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas. Upon graduation, Dr. Mix opened and operated his first Chiropractic clinic in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. In 2006 he moved to Bastrop, where he actively practices today.
Matthew believes strongly in being involved in the community and in volunteering on behalf of students in our public schools. He serves as Executive Member of the Bastrop Sportsmen’s Committee, which is the fundraising arm for the Bastrop Education Foundation. He is past Secretary of the Bastrop Education Foundation, and he is actively involved in the BISD Helping Hands mentor program.
In the business community, Dr. Mix has served on the board of directors for the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, is past member of the Bastrop Downtown Business Alliance, and past Secretary of the Rotary Club of Bastrop County. Dr. Mix has served on the BISD Board of Trustees since 2013.
