The demand for new technologies and fuel efficiency in the Automotive Industry has fueled the need for Automotive Technicians willing to meet the needs of today’s highly skilled technicians. For today’s technicians, the computer has become one of the most important tools in the technician’s tool chest. Students with both the technical skills and the applied knowledge have a huge advantage entering this very demanding field. With the help from local leaders in the Automotive Industry Bastrop High School has created an Automotive Pathway design to prepare students to be successful in a post-secondary tract of study or move into the basic position in the automotive industry. Our NATEF certified facilities ensure students are exposed to the information and Skills they will need to become ASE certified Automotive Technicians Student in this pathway have the opportunity to earn college credit through an articulation agreement with Austin Community College and be introduced to the areas needed for an ASE certification. Students in this cluster have the option of becoming members of the BHS Skills USA chapter. Members of this student organization can test their skill level by competing against students across the state in career development contest.
