2018 Convocation

  • This year we welcomed back our Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Administrators, Custodial Staff, Maintenance & Grounds Crew, our Child Nutrition Staff, our Transportation Crew and all our valuable partners and employees at Bastrop ISD. We are one big family and we look forward to the 2018 - 2019 school year. Our campuses came up with some unique and exciting roll calls. Superintendent Barry Edwards said our goals this year will focus on strengthening our community relationships, continue building the promise of educational excellence, and maintain our commitment to eliminating opportunity gaps. Our keynote speaker Dr. Debbie Estes is a former teacher, principal, and director of curriculum.  She engaged the staff with a brilliant and interactive discussion on improving relationships, communications, and leadership. We also started a brand new tradition this year. During Roll Call, the schools were secretly being judged. The winning campus won the BISD Spirit Stick, which they can proudly display throughout the year. Lost Pines Elementary was crowned the first ever winner. A standout moment though was when our Administrators, Principals, and Assistant Principals surprised the crowd with a Flash Mob dance. It was a spirited dance led by Tracie Bartsch from Mina Elementary. They all did an amazing job and were great sports for playing along. The crowd was on their feet at the end.
