The Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees is composed of seven members, each elected at-large. School Board elections occur every year on the first Saturday in May (the May uniform election date in Texas). Sample Ballots are available at the Bastrop County Elections website.

- Places 1 and 2 expire in 2027, 2030 and 2033 and in three-year intervals thereafter

Filing Requirements and Deadlines
Board Policy BBBA (Legal) delineates the rules for filing for candidacy, including the statutory deadlines. A candidate application for a place on the ballot must:
- Be in writing;
- Be signed and sworn to before a person authorized to administer an oath in this state by the candidate and indicate the date that the candidate swears to the application;
- Be timely filed with the appropriate authority; and
- Include all statutorily required information.
An application for a place on the ballot may not be filed earlier than the 30th day before the date of the filing deadline. An application must be filed not later than 5:00 p.m. of the 78th day before the date of the election for an election to be held on a uniform election date.

Joint Elections
To help reduce the cost of elections for taxpayers and to provide added convenience, Bastrop ISD conducts its elections jointly with other entities holding elections in May. The district contracts with the office of the Bastrop County Elections Administrator to help with operating polling locations and to ensure each election is conducted properly.
