It all started with family and community. Kelli Ruby, the new Principal at Cedar Creek Elementary School, has been married to husband Jesse for 27 years and has two grown children Jonathan (teacher in Illinois with his wife Alex) and Leslie (pursuing her Master's degree in Oklahoma). Mrs. Ruby started her journey into education as a Room Parent and PTO mom almost 20 years ago. She's been a Substitute Teacher in all grades, a tutor, an Aide, and coach. She taught first and second grades for seven years before becoming Principal at Oak Valley Elementary School, a TK-8th grade school in California. After receiving her Master's degree in Educational Administration, she also went on to be an Adjunct Professor at her alma mater, teaching math instruction to credentialing candidates. She and her husband have pastored churches for over 25 years and moved to Austin last year to pastor a church, where Mrs. Ruby also took a position in Lake Travis as an Assistant Principal.
Mrs. Ruby fell in love with Bastrop on a "COVID drive" with her family and felt an immediate connection to Cedar Creek Elementary. After research she realized the district and school's mission and vision aligned with her in their passion to make a difference in the lives of students. She has a strong belief in integrity and that we are better together. She puts kids first/people first, takes personal responsibility for being the lead learner and inspires staff to treat everyone with dignity and respect. In addition to providing a safe environment, Mrs. Ruby is leading the staff to build a strong educational foundation for learning. The Administrative Team would love to hear your input. She would lover your input, you are welcome to connect with Mrs. Ruby by calling the school or emailing email@example.com
