Emily Allen was named the Principal of Mina Elementary in July 2020. She was previously the school's assistant principal for 6 years.
Mrs. Emily Allen, a Bastrop, Texas native, graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science along with a Reading and Early Childhood Endorsement. She is also certified in Special Education and English as a Second Language. In December 2014, Mrs. Allen received her master’s in administration from Lamar University. Emily Allen has been in education for 19 years, 11 of those years spent at Red Rock Elementary.
Mrs. Emily Allen served the students at Bastrop ISD as an interim assistant principal and Literacy Coach. Mrs. Allen, first joined the district in 2004 as a kindergarten teacher, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2006, then moved to the Response to Intervention Coordinator (RTI) in 2009 and served as the first Literacy Coach for Red Rock Elementary before asked to step in as interim Assistant Principal for the rest of last year.
Mrs. Allen is married to Ross Allen, who is a coach/teacher for Bastrop Middle School. Together they have two children, Averi and Easton. Averi is a recent graduate of Bastrop High School. Easton is a student at Bastrop Middle School. The Allen family are strong believers in the BISD school system and its teachers.
