Hello! My name is Rachel Davis, and I teach Choir and Piano 1-4 at BHS.
I am very happy to start my second year at Bastrop High School teaching Choir and Beginner/Advanced Piano. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Music Education from Southeastern Louisiana University, and was certified choir teacher in the state of Louisiana. I then moved to Austin, TX for graduate school, where I received my Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Texas at Austin. (Hook 'Em Horns!)
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and spent most of my life in the southeastern United States. I have directed groups such as Collegium Musicum, a classical a cappella ensemble at UT Austin comprised of undergraduate and graduate students perfroming unaccompanied choral music. I have conducted choirs at Southeastern Louisiana University, University of Texas at Austin, Mandeville High School, Manor High School, Mississippi College, and more. I have worked as a clinician in Manor ISD and Austin ISD, and am always happy to work with choirs around the area! In my free time, I love to read, cook, and hike around the beautiful parks in Austin.
I am excited to have your student in my class this year, and am looking forward to a school year full of learning, discovery, and fun!
"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." - Victor Hugo
