Greene-Gast Featured on National Podcast
When the pandemic hit earlier this year and forced school districts to become an overnight online education system, the Bastrop ISD curriculum and instruction department was ready to make it as easy of a transition as possible.
Jennifer Greene-Gast, Academic RTI Coordinator for BISD, typically spends her day meeting with intervention staff across the district, attending PLCs for specialized courses such as Practical Writing, and collaborating with MTSS Coordinators on how to support students with wraparound services.
“When BISD began online instruction, my first goal was to find out how much knowledge our teachers had with the online programs they were using,” said Greene-Gast. From there she developed a three-tiered model to meet teachers where they were and expand their knowledge to help promote student learning.
Marketscale reached out to Greene-Gast with a proposal to serve as a panelist on their national podcast about blended learning in education. The podcast can be viewed by visiting https://marketscale.com/industries/education-technology/the-keys-to-successful-blended-learning-during-the-covid-pandemic/.
Another panelist on the podcast was from iStation, who got to hear first hand about the experience in BISD. “In talking with the other panelist, I shared some of our success stories that have come out of this unusual year,” Jennifer remarked. “She thought it would be a great idea to feature the takeaways in a their weekly blog in a three-part series.” Green-Gast’s featured blogs on Istation can be viewed at

“Now more than ever, our students and teachers need these supports and structures,” said Dr. Laila Olivarez, Associate Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. "I am so very proud of Jennifer and her work in our district."
