Who do I contact about FFA?
If you are enrolled in an Ag class with Ms. Hamby, Ms. Musick or Mr. Kessler, you can ask for a membership form and pay $20 in dues.
We have monthly meetings on the last Monday of every month in room 709. Additional meetings/practices will vary depending on personal FFA involvement and will be set by the Ag teachers and communicated to those respective students/parents.
How do you join?
Students must be enrolled in a Bastrop High School Ag Science course in order to be a member of the Bastrop FFA Chapter. You may request a membership form from any ag teacher- Hamby, Musick or Kessler. Dues are set at $20 and cover student membership for Bastrop FFA, Star District FFA Association, Area XII FFA association, Texas FFA Association, and The National FFA Organization, as well as go towards chapter activities for the year.
The purpose of this organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
What is FFA?
FFA is not extracurricular! The program is part of a three-part model of education that consists of (1) classroom instruction, (2) supervised agricultural experiences and the (3) FFA.
Classroom agricultural education is applied to hands-on learning opportunities called supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). SAEs include activities such as starting a business, working for an established company or working in production agriculture.
FFA activities vary greatly from chapter to chapter, but are based in a well-integrated curriculum. Chapter activities and programs concentrate on three areas of the FFA mission: premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
