For a young person who is living through a particularly challenging time, a stable adult in their lives can be invaluable. Bastrop ISD is committed to creating and sustaining meaningful and potentially long-lasting relationships between caring adults and youth with our Mentor Program. Any person dedicated to spending the time it takes to make a positive difference in the life of a child is eligible to be a mentor. All you need to do is submit an application (along with a copy of a valid government-issued photo identification card). Once a background check is complete, you will be invited to a one-hour mentor orientation to guide you in becoming a successful mentor, including procedures, tips for working with students, recommended activities, and more. We accept applications for mentors all year long, and mentor orientations are held monthly. Our Mentor Coordinator at the BMS campus, Hannah Reyes, will match you with a student who has been approved to have a mentor. Once a match has been made, you will receive a call to meet your mentee and tour the designated campus.
