Arrival Reminders:
-
Bus: Students will arrive and be directed to breakfast or their classroom.
-
Car Drop-Off Lines: Parents will form one line on Fayette and form two lines on Beech with their vehicles in designated areas. Students should INDEPENDENTLY exit out of the passenger side and head into either the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait outside their classroom. Parents should remain in the cars to keep the flow of the line moving. Students will be asked to get out as soon as the car is in place to be opened by an adult or student patrol.
** We will have MANY adults out to assist the students as we transition back into the school year. While this may be unsettling, I promise we will work with the students and assist them if they need it until they feel comfortable. They can do it, and so can you!
Dismissal Reminders:
-
We start earlier the first week to practice our new dismissal routine but after that, no child will exit the building prior to 2:55pm.
-
Transportation changes must be made prior to 2:00 PM using the linked form:
-
Bus: Students will be loaded by staff according to their bus tags (we will hand these out the 1st week of school) and buses will depart no later than 3:10pm.
-
Walkers: Student’s home address must be 1 mile or less from Mina Elementary. Parent must meet student and staff in designated walker pickup area by 3:05pm otherwise the student will be escorted back to the office for pickup.
-
STARS (paid after school childcare): Students will go to the cafeteria each day to meet STARS staff. Parents will pick up students that are enrolled in STARS from the cafeteria doors AFTER dismissal. Please do not do this DURING dismissal as it will be challenging to get you to the building to pick them up.
-
-
Car Pick-Up: Fayette St (PK - 1st grade students and older siblings): Parents will form one line with their vehicles in the car rider loop in the right lane (closest to the building). Families will display their car rider tags (numbers). Hang this tag from your rearview mirror so that it is visible to Mina staff. A staff member will be walking the line identifying (utilizing their cell phone) the family number and notifying staff members to ensure your students are lined up and ready for pick up. The student(s) from inside the building will go to the appropriate cone along the pickup line outside. Students will need to enter the car from the passenger side INDEPENDENTLY. Parents should remain in the cars to keep the flow of the line moving. NO student or staff will assist with the safety restraints of seatbelts or car seats. This is a liability for the school. Once all cars in the pick up zone are safely loaded, the line will be dismissed by a staff member and the next set of pickups will get ready to load.
-
Car Pick-Up Beech St (2nd-5th grade students): Parents will need to line up in the right hand lane. At 2:30pm parents can start a second line in the left lane on Beech St. Families will display their car rider tags (numbers). Hang this tag from your rearview mirror so that it is visible to Mina staff. A staff member will be walking the line identifying (utilizing their cell phone) the family number and notifying staff members to ensure your students are lined up and ready for pick up. The student(s) will line up on the sidewalk and look for their vehicles. Once all cars are stopped students will walk either down the sidewalk or down the center of the Beech St (under adult supervision) to their vehicle where a staff member will open their door. Once all students are loaded the line will be dismissed to leave the loading area. If you are in the right lane you will turn right onto Hill St., and if you are in the left lane you will turn left on Hill St. Please be sure to watch the staff member directing traffic as we want to ensure all student and staff safety.
**With the number of students on campus please anticipate a LONG line at the beginning of the year. Our goal is to make this quick while keeping student safety in mind. In the past, the pick-up line could take up to 45 minutes the first week of school. Please be patient as it will get faster.
