Child Development Centers (CDC)

Bastrop ISD operates three licensed Child Development Centers (CDC) for children 6 weeks to 4 years. We strive to give children the love and nurture they need while their parents are working or are in classes by creating positive learning experiences where they can grow physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively through a variety of age-appropriate activities. The CDCs are open to the public. However, we prioritize enrollment to the children and grandchildren of BISD employees and BISD student parents.

• Our Emile, Bluebonnet and Cedar Creek facilities are 4 STAR Texas Rising Star facilities.
• Our child care costs are among the lowest in the area.
• Our program is licensed and inspected by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
• CDC teachers receive 24-30 or more training hours each year.
• BISD staff receive a 20% discount through payroll deduction. 
  
  

Locations and Hours

Emile Elementary School (on the east side) and Cedar Creek Elementary School and Bluebonnet Elementary (on the west side). Operating hours are 6:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, according to the Bastrop ISD academic calendar.

Public Preschool
Through the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program

A unique partnership exists between the CDCs at Mina Elementary, Emile Elementary, and Red Rock Elementary and the BISD Special Programs & Services Department to operate an Early Childhood Special Education program. It is an inclusive program comprised of both general education students and preschoolers with disabilities. The goal of the program is that, with the support of a certified teacher, our general education students are able to serve as guides and leaders in the classroom.
